BiblePatterns is where I publish thoughts, ideas, and contemplations on biblical patterns — from Scripture itself, from lived experience, and from what turns up in culture, TV, and movies.
These patterns are genuinely illuminating, but they call for caution. I try not to lean on symbols to force hard interpretations, and I'd encourage readers to hold the same restraint. It's easy — I've done it myself — to treat these patterns like a hunt for secret treasure, chasing a smug "I see it all" certainty that isn't really ours to claim. Our understanding is never perfect, because we're never perfect; if it were, we wouldn't need to keep searching.
One thing worth watching for, in my opinion, is how an understanding affects you. Does it make you hostile? Does it leave you falsely confident? Or does it nourish you more deeply in the love of God through Christ? The "why" behind our reaction often reveals what is at issue.
Scripture has many layers. But layers are complementary, not a rewrite. Patterns can show a little more around the edges of something. God is not the author of confusion.
What I publish here is often ongoing contemplation, not a finished conclusion. An article is the result of that session of thought — not necessarily of the subject itself. More than once I've walked away from something I wrote only for God to reveal it more clearly a week later. I try to track that as it happens, but the point stands regardless, which is that understanding comes from God alone, not from an article you read or a sermon you hear. Those things can only provoke reception of the Spirit. Rely not on the understanding of your own mind, but on the conviction of the Holy Spirit.
A Note on Process
Some of what appears here is produced with the assistance of AI tools in the editorial process, specifically in formulating outlines, organizing notes, building drafts, and providing editorial polish. I want to be transparent about that because I think honesty about process matters, especially on a site where the integrity of the thinking is the whole point.
That said, the material itself, the topics, the arguments, the positions, the contemplations, comes from and is sustained, by human effort. What gets published is the result of significant thought, revision, and refinement, often through many rounds. Pieces that touch on spiritual interpretation, speculative theology, or opinion are reviewed and revised more carefully and more thoroughly by hand before they go anywhere near a published state.
The way I'd put it is this: AI assists in the editorial process the way a good editor might, helping shape and refine what's already there. The thinking, the wrestling, the conclusions, and the convictions are mine. The end product reflects human effort, with AI as a tool in service of it. I understand, and respect, those who have convictions against AI, which is why I am transparent here. I share those convictions as well, but not as wholesale as many.
If an article is found to contain errors of fact or statements that require revision, those corrections will be recorded transparently at the bottom of the article in question rather than quietly updated without acknowledgment. The goal is a site where the process is as honest as the content.
